Two altitudes. One standard.

Every Banexco banana is grown at elevation. The only question is how high.

Highland · 400–900 MASL

Highland Cavendish

Elevation: 400–900 meters above sea level (MASL). Highland bananas mature slowly in cooler mid-elevation climates. Slow growth develops naturally sweeter flavor and denser pulp than lowland Cavendish, with slower ripening and long greenlife for stable quality in transit.

  • Naturally sweeter taste
  • Long greenlife and slow, even ripening
  • Stable pulp structure for shipping
  • Consistent quality for Japan, China, and Middle East programs

Super-Highland · 901–1,200 MASL

Super-Highland Cavendish

Elevation: 901–1,200 MASL. Our highest farms in Tamayong grow fruit in genuinely cool air. The result is higher sweetness, stronger pulp density, and exceptional keeping quality — the fruit we offer buyers who ask for the top of the harvest.

  • Higher sweetness from extended maturation
  • Slow yellowing and excellent keeping quality
  • Denser pulp for long shipping routes
  • Preferred for premium Japanese retail programs

Why altitude matters

Cooler air at elevation slows the banana's growing cycle — roughly 12 to 16 months at altitude against about 9 months in the lowlands. The longer cycle lets the plant store more starch, which becomes sugar as the fruit ripens. Lowland fruit measures 15–19° Brix, and super-highland fruit reaches 27–28° Brix.¹ Our own highland fruit typically measures 21–26° Brix. Philippine highland banana growing began in Calinan, Davao City — where our highland farms stand today.¹

Quality assurance

Our team inspects fruit at every stage: plant condition on the farm, crown and defect checks during sorting, weight checks at packing, and temperature control through cold storage and reefer loading. Growers receive an approved-chemicals list, and fruit is tested periodically against the residue standards of Japan, China, and the Gulf markets.
